The author delivers an exceptional understanding of divorce through dinosaur characters. Prior to the story, a list of divorce words and their definitions are provided for comprehension purposes. Thereafter, with the aid of brief scenarios and charming illustrations, children learn about thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that occur among the family members before, during, and after divorce. Additionally, the author provides children with an understanding of meeting new stepparents and living in a blended family.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It is very insightful for children and assists them in recognizing their own thoughts, feelings, and behavior surrounding divorce. The scenarios in the story are common and applicable to present day occurrences. The illustrations are fun and capture the essence of the story. The book is helpful for children of preschool through elementary ages.
